TUTOR SO YOU CAN PAINT LIKE AN IMPRESSIONIST ON TOUR

Admire the art, AND engage with colour as you paint some of your own masterpieces under the guidance of well-known artist and author Jacqueline Coates.  Jacqueline has been painting for 30 years and teaching for 16 years. She has a global following and is known for her generous teaching method.

Take this rare opportunity to truly immerse yourself in the inspirational experience. All artwork materials have been planned for ease so you can take your paintings home easily.

In the Limousin we will be staying at two French Villas nearby each other, which includes a painting studio or atelier, easels and art supplies, specially created for the tour. Jacqueline will be showing how to paint using a modern and easy approach to the Impressionists style that anyone can do and get beautiful results. Jacqueline is well known for her compassionate teaching methods.

SAVOUR THE SPRING GARDENS, PEONIES, ROSES AND IRISES AS THE FLOWERS AND GARDENS ARE AT THEIR PEAK DURING THE TOUR

As a passionate floral artist, Jacqueline has included several gardens including the Tuileries, some Parisian florists, the potager gardens of Chateau de Villandry, the Love Garden of hedges, the gardens of Chateau de Chenonceau and the amazing floral displays throughout the chateau itself.

At Monet’s garden in Giverny, breathe in the roses, the peonies, the iris and poppies.
Take in the spectacular waterlilies. In the town itself there is a field of wild poppies and cascades of fragrant roses.

In the Limousin, take in the wildflowers, the forests of chestnuts, hazelnuts and oak, the beautiful vistas and scenery featuring some of the most beautiful villages in all of France.

Whilst in the Limousin, paint en plein air, visit the tapestry town of Aubusson with it’s stone bridges spanning the river, the terraced gardens surrounding the Limoges Cathedral, and paint in the orchard of the villa La Tonnellerie!

YOU’VE HEARD OF MONET’S GARDEN. DO YOU KNOW ABOUT MONET’S WALK?

Literally walk in the footsteps of Claude Monet who painted 28 paintings of the confluence of the river Creuse and the Petit Creuse in all sorts of weather conditions as he was determined to understand the effects of light and changing atmosphere on the water.

Read the sign posts along the scenic walk by the river, including excerpts from his letters, and come to know that even Monet had difficult days with his paintings!

You can stand where Monet painted his paintings along the walk, and literally experience the landscape as Monet did. A unique and picturesque experience.

Visit the VALLEY OF THE PAINTERS, at Crozant where ma other French Impressionists were inspired to paint the spectacular landscape, and the Ruins of Crozant.

LIVE THE FRENCH LIFESTYLE!

We have our own live-in cook in the Limousin.

Savour fabulous lunches and dinners made with the fresh local produce prepared by a true connoisseur of flavour and great food.

Delicious picnics are prepared for us when painting outdoors. All breakfasts provided.

The light and sparkling colours of the Cote D'Azur inspired many artists from Pierre Bonnard to Henri Matisse. Enjoy a creative reboot and inspirational holiday with a difference.

Studying their paintings it's easy to see the common thread of joy coursing rhythmically through the works. Matisse goes to the extreme with colour whilst Bonnard finds incredible beauty and decoratif motifs in the everyday. How do they make everyday life so beautiful? They certainly create the belle vie and alongside that fluid and confident painting techniques support their vision tha…

How to shop for Vintage French on tour

FRENCH ART SCHOOLHow to bag a French  Vintage bargain  AND get it home

Who doesn’t love shopping and who doesn’t love everything French Provincial?
The great news is that fabulous French vintage doesn’t actually cost a lot to buy you just need to be shown where to find it.
First of all you will need to know what a Brocante is.

So what’s a Brocante? A Brocante in short is an extremely attractive shop full of gorgeous old French things where you will most likely want to buy everything and take it all home.
To the naked eye, a French Brocante can vary in appearance from looking like a shop full of French antiques, or a bric a brac shop, to looking like a second-hand shop. One thing they have in common is that they are all full of amazing and fascinating items and you are going to have to get an iron will to resist the buying temptation.
They generally turn up on the roadside or in villages or are well kept secrets only the locals seem to know about tucked away in old mill on the river, or in a…
